Highland Lakes Tours

Sampling wine and touring the winery at the Fall Creek Vinyards in nearby Tow, TX.

Highland Lakes city tours also include historical landmarks. Take a tour of President Lyndon B. Johnson's boyhood home and ranch in Johnson City.

Highland Lakes city tours don’t get more nostalgic than the Hill Country Flyer train. You can take a ride on the train from Cedar Park to Burnet and back.

Tour the Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery 12 miles west of Burnet.


Museums

Hill Country Science Mill - The Hill Country Science Mill in Johnson City is a family destination offering a fun, interactive learning environment for all ages. Through cutting-edge technology-based exhibits, games and programs, the Science Mill expands kids' understanding and appreciation of science in their everyday lives.

Visit the Falls on the Colorado Museum at 905 Third Street in Marble Falls.

Visit the Fort Croghan Museum located next to the Burnet Chamber of Commerce on Highway 29 about one mile west of Highway 281.

Learn about flight at the Highland Lakes CAF Air Museum It's the headquarters for the Commemorative Air Force Hill Country Squadron.


Outdoor Activities

Visit the Upper Highland Lakes Nature Center.

Going to the Bluebonnet Festival in Kingsland in April of each year. 

Have a picnic in one of the Highland Lakes parks.Our top picks are Lakeside Park or Johnson Park in Marble Falls, the Hamilton Creek Park in Burnet, the Llano River Park in Llano or The Slab in Kingsland.

Enjoy the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlfie Refuge near Marlbe Falls.They have over five miles of hiking trails and provide guided tours, guided hikes and educational programs for groups. It’s a great place to see the Golden Cheek Warbler and the Black Capped Vireo.

Watching the fireworks on the July 4th in Kingsland.

Climb Enchanted Rock 22 miles south of Llano on Ranch Road 965. It’s one of the most popular Highland Lakes tourist spots.

Visit the Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory in Austin. The observatory is open to visitors seven days a week from dawn to dark. Free monthly birding field trips take place on the third Saturday of each month.

Wade in the Llano River, then sunbathe and play in the sand at The Slab in Kingsland.
