Sailing on Lake LBJ
Sunrise Beach is a peaceful community located on the southwestern shore of beautiful Lake LBJ in the central Texas Hill Country. Lake LBJ is the third of the seven Highland Lakes that run from Austin to 85 miles northwest of Austin along the Colorado River. A normally constant level lake, Lake LBJ is one of the most popular lakes in Texas for boating activities.

Sunrise Beach is less than 60 miles up a very scenic drive through the hills of the Hill Country from Austin, Texas. It is located 85 miles north of San Antonio, 200 miles south of Dallas and Fort Worth and 220 miles west of Houston.

Boaters love Sunrise Beach! There is everything you need for perfect boating. You can rent boats and SeaDoos. There are docks available for your boats. There are also waterfront fueling stations, repair and service of boats, and a large selection of boating parts and accessories.
Lake LBJ is perfect for boating, water skiing, jetskiing and swimming. It has many quiet protected coves as well as the open water of the lake. Be sure to bring your fishing pole along, too.

Sunrise Beach is also a very popular area for retired people. Because of the mild climate and the beautiful views, many people are attracted to the area from the colder northern states. Many winter Texans spend the winters in Sunrise Beach and then decide to retire here.
Sunrise Beach has a population of about 800 fulltime residents. A few hundred people also own vacation homes here. Sunrise Beach is close enough to Austin that some people move to Sunrise Beach and drive to Austin to work. The drive is a very pretty one and the traffic is very light.
